The overall objective of the action is to address the challenges of the COVID 19 to the Organization of elections in Africa and contribute to the capacity-development of regional networks and regional organizations through the innovative hybrid training activities on electoral matters implemented by SSSA and ECES also via the on-line Master in Electoral Policy and Administration (MEPA).
Following the first year of INNOV-ELECTIONS project, the second phase can turn electoral challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic into a unique opportunity for selected African countries as well as for “Electoral Observation and Assistance Units” of African Regional Organizations and Secretariats of Networks of Electoral Management Bodies in Africa to enhance their staff members’ knowledge and capacities in electoral administration.
The specific objective of phase 1 of the project is to enhance election management and administration knowledge in the targeted African countries and in the AU by developing key competencies in election management bodies and regional organizations also in the context of the prevention electoral conflicts and violence.
The specific objective of phase 2 of the project is to enhance knowledge by developing key competencies in prevention of electoral conflicts and violence for “Electoral Observation and Assistance Units” of the staff of selected African States African, as well as of the staff of African Regional and Sub-regional Organizations and Secretariats of Networks of Electoral Management Bodies in Africa.
